Another Choir wedding!

Long time Soweto Gospel Choir members Mary Motselele and Mulalo Mulovhedzi recently held a traditional Venda wedding in Chiawelo, Soweto Township.

Like any wedding; it was a happy day with lots of celebration!

A big thank you to Phili for sharing these photos!

Congrats to the happy couple–I’ve been told by Mulalo that this is a “pre wedding” and that the “real” wedding will take place later this year.

The Soweto Gospel Choir took part at a Nokia event at Voda World on April 7, 2011.

Long time choir member Phili Faya is currently busy recording her follow up album that is set to be released later this year.

She invited her brothers and sisters from the Soweto Gospel Choir to participate in two songs–Soweto Blues and Around the World.

The producer is Sipho Sithole.

From U2.com … a fun video of the Soweto Gospel Choir meeting U2 during their concert in Joburg last month.

To quote Bono: “We’re fans and we fell in love with the sound you make so tonight we’re going to open the show with one of your pieces.”

Great stuff.

Loved their reaction when Get On Your Boots started to play at the start of the concert!
