Two-time Grammy-Winning Soweto Gospel Choir Comes to Wilmington
Two members of the The Soweto Gospel Choir, winner of two Grammy Awards, stopped by WHQR studios on Tuesday. They spoke with Rachel Lewis Hilburn about singing with a mission, traveling the world, and what it’s like to perform with/for internationally-renowned luminaries like U-2′s Bono and Nelson Mandela.
The Soweto Gospel Choir performs at UNCW’s Kenan Auditorium Tuesday, January 24th at 8 PM.

SABC unveils plans for ANC celebrations

THE SABC has revealed its plans for the coverage of the ANC’s centenary celebrations in Bloemfontein on Sunday.

And as a precursor to the event, SABC2 is currently running a seven-part documentary, Have you heard from Johannesburg. The documentary is being flighted in the build-up to the ANC centenary celebrations that will be beamed live.
The documentary series is running on the channel until Friday at 7.30pm.
Have you heard from Johannesburg throws light on the global citizens’ movement that took on South Africa’s apartheid regime.
It reveals how every day people in South Africa and their allies around the globe helped challenge and end one of the biggest injustices the world has ever known.
It is an untold story of one of the most fascinating events of the last century. It captures a time full of violence, heroism and struggles, with real-life heroes and real-life villains. On Tour: It’s a wrap!
Today the Soweto Gospel Choir performed their last show in Padova, Italy to wrap up their four-month long European tour.
The Italian promoters presented the Choir with a lovely cake after the show. I heard it was as delicious as it looks!
The Choir now heads home for some well deserved break!
Also, the second choir is currently in Holland and will be performing with Andre Rieu again.
