THE GRAMMY-award winning Soweto Choir is expected to be nothing short of magnificent, says group member and choreographer Shimmy Jiyane.
Yesterday the 26-member group relaxed at the beach at Yanuya Island Resort in the Mamanuca Group.
“We love Fiji,” Jiyane said.
“When we arrived at Nadi International Airport, it was like returning home for us because the people were so welcoming and friendly.”
The group arrived in the country after performing around New Zealand.
“New Zealand was cool but it was too cold for our liking,” Jiyane said.
“But the weather here in Fiji is excellent and just what we needed.”
Jiyane said the show at the Port Denarau Entertainment Centre would be a highly entertaining and exciting one.
“It will be a good opportunity to enjoy a different sort of music and watch dances.
“We have thrown in a few new songs along with dances and we know everybody will enjoy the show.
“We have a new tapping dance and very colourful and vibrant costumes which will catch your attention and hold it until the end of the show.”
This is the group’s second visit and accompanying them are four new recruits who are visiting Fiji for the first time.
“They are very excited to be in Fiji and I urge everyone in Fiji to come to Denarau and join in the excitement and entertainment,” Jiyane said.
