Alice Springs locals and visitors turned out in their thousands today for the annual Bangtail Muster parade.
Classic cars, Indigenous drummers, dancers and hundreds of schoolchildren in fancy dress paraded through the Todd Mall.
Parade co-ordinator Neil Ross says the annual event is run by Rotary.
“It is a community event, pure and simple, a celebration of the town,” he said.
This year the Soweto Gospel Choir from South Africa joined the festivities for a live concert.
The choir is on an Australian tour.
The Bangtail Muster has been running for more than half a century and is traditionally the start of the mustering season in Central Australia.
After the parade, floats lined up for judging at Anzac Park.
