The Bala Brothers will be touring the U.K and are set to perform at the Edinburgh Festival as special guests of the Multi-Award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir.

The magnificent trio will begin their tour with a performance in London on 3rd and 4th of August at the Cadogan Hall where they are expected to attract a huge hungry fan base from all around the region.

After their performance in London they then head to the Edinburgh Festival to perform from the 6th to the 17th of August at one of the oldest Fringe venues, Assembly Theatre as they celebrate 30 years of eclectic programming.

The Bala Brothers promise to add unique flavour to the festival by infusing Opera sounds with those of Popular African Music. This resulted in the birth of “Popera”, a new generation of African inspired classical music.  On-stage too, the trio have retained a massive fan base from their “not to be missed” live shows. Their style is not about playing the tune just to get applause; it is about communicating and engaging their audience.

In recent times, the trio have formed a close association with the Grammy Award Winning Soweto Gospel Choir who have achieved phenomenal local and international success. Its list of achievements include two Grammy Awards, three South African Music Awards and it was the first African act ever to be invited to perform at the 2009 Academy Awards with John Legend. The choir’s albums have reached No 1 on Billboard’s World Music Charts and the choir has performed and recorded with some of the best musicians in the world, including Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Robert Plant, Bono and Aretha Franklin.

The 3 brothers Zwai, Loyiso and Phelo were amongst the first black South Africans to study at the prestigious Drakensburg Choir School for Boys. Since graduating, the two older brothers Zwai & Loyiso have gone on to carve out stellar careers for themselves in South Africa and internationally.

With their song writing, producing, arranging and artist expertise, the trio has managed to captivate music lovers with their first offering namely “B3”.  The stunning album features a unique mix of songs that feature the soaring vocals of both internationally and nationally acclaimed artists.

Their tour will be a great attraction for a number of music lovers. The Bala family sibling’s epic journey has always been paved with music and song, and now the Bala name is set to leave another proudly musical legacy that will shine for many decades to come.
